Happy Wedding Wednesday! You guys my week is so off because of the holiday but I’m definitely not mad about it. I’m back today with a wedding post and I know a lot of you wanted updates but I had to share this really cute and easy DIY for brides on a budget. Today I’m going to be sharing with you how I made these Acrylic Wedding signs!
If you’re a bride I’m sure you scour through Pinterest for inspiration and lots of it takes you to Etsy for all kinds of cute wedding decor. I always come across a million things that I want to buy on Etsy for my wedding. Obviously after a while things start to add up and I’ve been looking for ways to keep what I envisioned for less $$$.
There are so many pretty acrylic wedding signs on Etsy but my favorite are the ones that are painted on the back. If this sounds like you then this DIY is perfect for you! Let’s get into the DIY!
ITEMS NEEDED
You need a few simple items to make your perfect acrylic wedding signs. By the way if you have a Cricut machine you could also make this DIY and just skip the writing step. The things you will need are as follows:
–Acrylic Photo Frame (Can be found at Dollar Tree)
–Acrylic Matte Paint of your color choice
–Small brush
-Disposable plate
–Oil Based Marker (If you have a Cricut machine you can skip this)
-Printer
–Canva account (Free to make)
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1: Create a Canva account for access to tons of free fonts! Once you’ve created your account you can start with a blank new project or type in ‘wedding’ to see ones that have been created.
STEP 2: Once your design is created you will save it onto your computer and print. Once printed, you will take the acrylic photo frame and slip it through the back.
STEP 3: Taking your oil based marker; trace the lettering from the printed paper. This does take a bit of time but with practice and patience it turns out beautifully! If you do mess up since it is an oil based pen you will have to use some sort of oil around your house to remove the mistake. NOTE: If you have a Cricut machine, you could just print this and stick it onto the acrylic.
STEP 4: Once you are done tracing, you will remove the paper and let the acrylic frame sit for a few minutes while it dries.
STEP 5: After leaving it to dry for a few minutes it’s time to paint! Grabbing your acrylic paint, pour some onto your disposable plate. I used two shades of pink for mine but you can use one, two or more! It’s up to you.
STEP 6: Begin painting the back of the frame, I wanted the whole thing covered with a few paint brushes towards the edge. I highly recommend looking at Etsy to see the different ways people paint acrylic frames for inspiration. Once you are done let it dry! I let mine dry over night.
STEP 7: I traced over the lettering one more time to make it bold. Also I did a second coat of paint on the back because I noticed that there were a few streaky spots. After that they were done!
I hope you guys enjoyed this simple DIY and were able to make something special for your wedding or any occasion! As you can see, I made bar signs, guest book sign, remembrance sign, and a cards & gifts sign! Let me know if you try this and tag me in your acrylic wedding signs!
