Hello friends! I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing weekend. We spent our time between San Antonio and Austin getting some time in with friends and doing some wedding planning. How was your weekend? Today I’m going to be sharing Ways to Get Organized in 2020. I know we are all off and making our goals happen so I want to share some tips on how I stay on top of it all.
PLANNER
This one is pretty easy but having a planner is my literal saving grace. I always jot down things in my planner and always refer back to it whenever I start my day. Depending on what I got going on some days are pre filled out days or weeks in advance. But majority of the time I will fill it out the day off. Writing things down helps me remember what I’ve got going on and if I do forget I can always refer back to it.
CALENDAR
That brings me to the next thing… a calendar! I know life changing right (lol). Another simple thing is a calendar. Yes I like to have both a planner and calendar reason being is that the calendar is in my face all the time! I don’t normally jot down things on my calendar because of my planner but I will add stickers to dates that are important (i.e. pay day, bills due, events, etc.)
SET GOALS EVERY WEEK
I know with the new year we have all probably set new goals for the year and while that is fantastic don’t forget small wins are just as big! One of the things that helps me continue going on my big goals are accomplishing my small goals. Every week I set new goals like putting clothes back on hangars daily, putting shoes back in closet, reading at least 3 times a week, etc. Accomplishing these small goals makes me feel happy and confident that I can accomplish my bigger goals. I do them weekly some people do them daily but it’s up to you whatever makes you feel the best and works!
FINDING YOUR OWN SCHEDULE
While some people really thrive off of waking up early and starting their day immediately some people (aka me) are not morning people and this is a goal on it’s own. Just because you aren’t a morning person doesn’t mean you can’t get s**t done. Find a schedule that works best for you and own it. I tend to get up at 9 or 9:30 AM everyday and while for a lot of people that is “sleeping in” or getting up late it works for me. I’m also the kind of person that can work into the late hours of the night so I stay up till 3 AM somedays. Again it’s different for everyone and everyone has different things going on so find something that works for you.
LEAVE THE WEEKENDS FOR SPONTANEOUS FUN
I’m a huge planner so this is definitely different for me. I’m trying to relax a bit more which means I have to have more time that just is there. For me that will be the weekends. While I know some of us do have a schedule on the weekend. I encourage you to find days that you can just not have a schedule. It’s harder than you think but it’s something that is so great for your body and soul. Plus after feeling relaxed for a few days, you can go back to organizing and planning and it feel like no big deal.
PLAN MEALS
This may not seem like a way to get organized but trust me it is! I’m not talking about cooking all weekend to have meals all week (not that you can’t do that). I’m talking about writing down what you plan on cooking for the week. This way you can prepare your grocery list and come that breakfast, lunch, or dinner you are ready to go! This takes SO much stress off your plate and you feel organized within your kitchen.
CLEAN OUT YOUR SPACES
This is a big one for me every year because you never realize how much crap amounts in your space until you clean it out. They call it spring cleaning for a reason so I highly encourage you to take a look at your home, office, car, or really anything where you keep things and clean it out. I’m planning on doing a closet clean out again this week just to get my space clear and ready for any new clothes I will be buying this spring.
FIND A RELAXING ACTIVITY
Last but not least, this one again may not seem like a way to get or stay organized but it helps. Find something that you like to do whether that be painting your nails, drawing, reading, watching your favorite show, etc. Really anything that is relaxing to you and add it into your schedule daily. This will help keep you from burning out early and help you find a sense of calm daily. In turn, when it comes to getting your day, week or just life in general organized it will feel natural and easy.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and were able to find new ideas on how to get organized for the new year. It’s all a process so give yourself time and don’t quit. Celebrate every single victory because they are important and will make you feel invincible! If you have other ways you stay organized let me know in the comments below!
