Hey friends! Hope everyone is having a great week! I know I promised this post last week but things came up so here I am delivering this week. As I said, I’ve been getting a ton of questions on blogging and how I got started so I was going to make a huge Q&A post and tips post and here we are! Today I’m going to be sharing Tips to Start a Blog!
HOW DO I START A BLOG?
The number 1 question I get is how do I start a blog? Well simple, just start! No but really if you are wanting to start a blog just sign yourself up. I also had doubts when I was looking to start and now I can never look back. This world is full of surprises and is well worth the work.
WHAT WEBSITE DO YOU USE?
There are all kinds of web building websites (trust me I know) but the one I use is WordPress! There are two versions and I use the .org one. As far as my hosting site I use Bluehost. I’ve used them for years and honestly never have had an issue and if I run across one they are very helpful. Again I highly recommend them!
HOW DO YOU GROW YOUR INSTAGRAM?
Guys growing your Instagram now a days is so hard! I am on the same struggle bus that many of you may be on. Honestly my biggest thing for this is just focus on your content and what you audience likes and the rest will come. If you put to much focus on it it will drive you crazy! Some people grow their following with giveaways, paid advertisement on IG, and some people just buy their following. I haven’t really bought into any of these except giveaways and while some work others don’t. There really isn’t a huge way to grow which is why I say just focus on your content and the rest will come.
WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE FOR YOUR PHOTOS?
Another big question is about my camera! So I switch between my iPhone 8 Plus and my Sony A6000. I have a 35mm lens and the standard lens that comes with the Sony A6000. I switch between these all the time depending on the photo or campaign I’m working on.
WHAT PRESETS DO YOU RECOMMEND/USE ON PHOTOS?
So many presets out there so this question is definitely one of my most popular! So as of recent I’ve been using my own presets that I’ve made or I’ve been using the Tezza app! I have bought a handful of presets on Etsy because they come with a ton and are so inexpensive. I recommend trying any of those or the Tezza app for great presets!
HOW DID YOU PICK YOUR NAME?
Picking a name for my blog was definitely the thing that took me the longest. Honestly there are so many things you can do! Some people just give it their full name and others add in things that they like to eat or drink. Some put in things they want you to remember like “trendy” or “on a budget.” For mine I had already starting using this name on Tumblr and just decided to carry it over! Does anyone remember Tumblr?
IS BLOGGING EXPENSIVE?
Blogging can be expensive but you get what you put into it. The biggest thing you should put money towards when starting is your website. Build it the way you want it, add graphics that mean something to you or that describe you and pick a good hosting site!
HOW DO YOU GET PEOPLE TO READ YOUR BLOG?
Tell people about it! The best way to get new readers is to tell them about your blog! When I started I was nervous to tell family or friends that I was doing it because I thought it might seem kind of “annoying.” To be honest, most people that see it compliment me on it! I’ve even gotten some praise from people that I didn’t even think would see it! Don’t doubt yourself and share it. Once you’ve gotten over that hump share it across all of your social platforms.
SPEAKING OF SOCIAL MEDIA…
Make sure to align your blog with your social media! If you want to keep a separate page for your personal life and your blog life that is totally fine. I thought about doing that for a while but honestly I pay so much attention to my blog and brand that I kind of forgot about it. But when people look you up on any social platform it should be easy to find you.
WHAT SOURCES DID YOU USE TO GET YOU STARTED?

HOW DO YOU GET WORK?
This is probably number one most popular question. How do I get campaigns? There are many ways to this. 1. You can email the company that you are wanting to work for and let them know you are interested and how you want to work with them. 2. Companies email you when they find your blog, social media, etc and tell you about their business and product and tell you how they want to work with you. 3. There are a number of platforms where you can connect with a brand and sign up if you feel the brands aligns with your interests.
