Guys if you don’t already know (which most of you should hopefully) this Sunday is the big game! I’m not talking about the adorable puppy bowl which is literally the cutest and you should totally watch if you never have! But of course, I’m talking about the Super Bowl which is here in Houston. I am totally excited for this week because there are a ton of festivities going on around the city for this big day! If your reading this and this will be your first time in Houston or let alone Texas I have a special treat for you today!
This is my “How to do Super Bowl like a Texan” Guide! (If you are visiting from out of town make sure to check out my Houston Travel Guide here to see what to do around the city!) If you are from Texas then you know we definitely take football very seriously. It’s a learned craft from a young age, to high school, then college, and of course pro football. Seriously guys it’s HUGE! So, first things first… dress the part!
Team colors are highly suggested actually… they are NEEDED! Show your support for your team and your city! Here I am wearing of course my Texans jersey with some jeans and some riding boots! If you own cowboy boots WEAR THEM! In Texas, we wear boots to football games TRUST ME it’s a HUGE and very much approved thing! Sadly, this past year I ruined mine but I will definitely be getting a new pair in time for the upcoming season!
Second let’s talk food. If you are going to be tailgating (which if you aren’t you need to again it’s a Texas thing) you are going to need some great food! Don’t get me wrong burgers and hotdogs are delicious but YOU NEED BARBECUE! Either make it or buy it at one of the many amazing barbecue restaurants (more cred points if you make it). Trust me you won’t regret it!
Another great food item that’s HUGE in Texas is chips & queso. Okay so completely different from BBQ but trust me you need something to snack on while the meat is cooking and this is how Texans do it. Or if you are hosting a Super Bowl Party you definitely need this on the table! All your guest will love you for it and you will be so happy that you have it!
Lastly you need to have drinks right?! What better drink than beer (of course if you are over 21). This is a must for any football game but definitely a huge must in Texas. Don’t get me wrong those frozen margis at the stadium are amazing but beer is where it’s at! You have a ton of options to choose from too!
If you want to really be the life of the party I found this super cute and very appropriate dessert to bring to any tailgate or Super Bowl party! The one I have is a neutral cupcake perfect for any football lover but if you’re a Atlanta Falcons or a New England Patriots fan they also have ones just for the team! I got this at Crave Cupcakes so make sure to check them out to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth while having some team spirit!
I hope you guys enjoyed this super fun & easy guide to Super Bowl in Texas. I can’t wait for this week! If you guys are going to attend any activities or are going to any super bowl parties let me know! I want to hear everything about it!
XOXO,
Silvia M.
