Happy Friday friends! It’s been a long week coming and someone pass me a mimosa because I’m so ready for a brunch adventure this weekend. I’ve shared a ton of different Valentine’s Day content with you guys and today I’m going to be sharing my real thoughts of Valentine’s Day. This isn’t going to be a super sappy post but it also isn’t going to be a let’s bash Valentine’s Day party. I truly find the day cutesy and fun and I’m all about that!
Valentine’s Day has always been a day that I particularly liked because of the colors and when I was young it meant I got to buy super cute cards and I would get one back from every kid in class. Obviously not a kid anymore but you grow up learning that life isn’t that way and society tells you if you don’t have anyone you don’t get any Valentine’s Day fun.
I’ve never liked this for many reasons and the main one being is that you don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate a day of love. Also, you don’t need to have a day of love to celebrate love. Yes, I’m in a romantic relationship and yes we love to celebrate and frolic on this day (even if he denies it), but I also have friendships and family.

One thing I’ve always admired about my mom is that no matter what she would buy us a little treat for Valentine’s Day. Yes, if you were younger you tend to get cooler treats or multiple but I always loved and looked forward to my little heart chocolate box. It was just the meaning behind it that always meant something to me. Our parents are the first ones we learn to love and the ones that continue to shower us with it.
I always felt that I had a valentine even after elementary school. I never felt the need to be in a relationship because I had my mom and even then, I had a best friend that would bring me a little chocolate or teachers that would pass out cookies. People always say “I’m single so I hate Valentine’s Day” or “Valentine’s Day is the worst.”
Sure it’s not the best day of the year (ahem Thanksgiving) but it’s a day where you can give just a little extra attention to love. So, single or not single get your best friend, sister, mom, brother, dad, etc. and celebrate the love that you both have! Every love is different and every love should be celebrated included the ones we sometimes forget we always have.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I would love to hear what you guys think of Valentine’s Day! Also, I got my first Valentine’s Day card from one of my favorite little loves and that is my little sister!
XOXO,
Silvia M.

My mom always got me cute things for Valentine’s Day as well so I never had a reason to hate the holiday. I can see why some people do though.

So sweet that your mom always get you something for Valentine’s Day. I think it’s a cute holiday too. I don’t necessarily need to celebrate it, but I love giving my bf a card at least. And I agree, you don’t need to be in a relationship to celebrate the day. I once had a lovely V’day diner with my mom.

I love that your mom did Valentines even after you were young. I think it is special things like this that really stick out from our childhoods. She sounds awesome… oh and I love your skirt!!
