Good Morning friends! I cannot believe it’s already Friday! This week definitely flew by and I’m not complaining. I will be attending my first Houston Cougars football game of the season and I’m am way to excited and ready to shout out all my chants! Today I’m going to be sharing with you guys how I did New Orleans in 3 days! I’m also going to share with you my awesome stay with Stay Alfred and trust me you don’t want to miss this.
DAY 1
After a long road trip from Houston, the first thing we needed to do was find our apartment and check in. During our trip, we stayed with Stay Alfred and guys I was beyond floored with my stay and experience. Stay Alfred is a traveler’s apartment and is perfect for those that travel but are looking for a home away from home. It was the perfect size, had all kinds of great amenities, and was close to literally everything.
First off, the building wasn’t your typical hotel building it was in a high rise. We went up to our floor and got our keys with ease. Once we walked in I immediately felt so comfortable and like I was in my travel home. The difference between Stay Alfred and a hotel is that you truly get a full apartment. We had a full kitchen with all kinds of kitchenware, full bathroom, a king bed, a super comfortable couch that converted to a second bed, free wifi, and so much more! My absolute favorite part was that it was right in the middle of the city! We were literally in walking distancing to all kinds of restaurants, bars, shopping, and entertainment.
There was something to do at every corner! If you are traveling to New Orleans anytime soon I highly recommend checking out Stay Alfred! They do have multiple properties in the city and no matter where you stay you will be conveniently located to the city. After checking in to Stay Alfred, we knew it was time to eat. We stopped by Cajun Mike’s Pub and Grub and it was absolutely delicious! I ate a fried oyster po boy and Ryan had shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries. It was so good! After that we decided it was time to get some drinks down Bourbon. We stopped by and got a frozen hurricane and a hand grenade! After a few drinks we went back to Stay Alfred to get some rest.
DAY 2
I got up early the next day because the weather was going to be rainy. I started with a cup of tea and some Harry Potter. We decided to head towards Jackson Square to take some pictures and make a stop at Café Du Monde. Unfortunately, it started raining a lot earlier than what was expected so we went to Café Du Monde and just enjoyed some beignets. If you decide to stop when you visit don’t forget cash! You shouldn’t need more than about 5-6 dollars a person.
I was able to sneak a few pictures in and then it was brunch time! We stopped by a restaurant called Trenasse. First off let’s start with $10 bottomless mimosas! I mean if you are wanting to brunch so hard this is the place! I got a beef egg benedict with potatoes. It was okay, but the potatoes were great! Ryan got boudin hash with eggs and bacon.
After brunch we went back to our apartment because the rain was starting to get worse. We stayed in for about 2 hours and then when the sun came back out it was time for more pictures! Since we were staying at a high rise, we had an amazing pool with an amazing view. We knew there was no way we could pass the opportunity on taking a dip. After our pool time, it was time for dinner and Ryan needed to try charbroiled oysters from Drago’s. This is the one thing you need to try when you go to New Orleans are these oysters! They are literally addicting. Drago’s is my favorite, but Royal House Oyster Bar also knows how to do charbroiled oysters. Ryan loved them so much at Drago’s that we went to Royal House to get 1 ½ dozen more. Once we were both full of oysters, it was time to party down Bourbon. Since this was our last full night in New Orleans we decided to stay out till 4 AM. It’s definitely been a minute since I’ve been up at that hour. One of my favorite bars was Bourbon Vibezz. If you like Latin music this place is for you!
DAY 3
Waking up to pack and check out was brutal but we made it! Before starting our drive back to Houston we wanted to get some breakfast and do a bit more sightseeing in the French Quarter. We walked down Royal St and stopped by Hotel Monteleone. The carousel bar here is beyond cute! It actually revolves, very slow, but still revolves. They have some great drinks so definitely try it out if you are there.
One thing I learned while I was there is that the hotel is haunted. If ghosts are your thing then maybe this place would be your spot. I’m not a big “ghost hunter” so after I found out I literally ran out the door. Still such a gorgeous hotel and bar so I’d still stop by!We kept walking down Royal St to get more beignets but this time at Café Beignet. So, don’t kill me but the beignets here are SO MUCH better than at Café Du Monde. Also, their coffee is grade A! After hanging around the French quarter for a bit and taking photos it was time to head to the car.Right before leaving I wanted to stop by Tulane University because I’ve heard the campus is beautiful and the rumors aren’t wrong. We drove around for a bit to see the campus. The trees are huge and beyond beautiful. Definitely something I’ve never seen in Texas. I got a few pictures here as well. After our quick stop at Tulane, it was time to head home. We had such a wonderful time in New Orleans are can’t wait to go back! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and found it helpful for all of you that are heading to New Orleans!
