Oh, howdy Friday! Yes, the Texan girl totally just came out of me because it’s Friday! It’s going to be a busy day of shopping and emails so I’m way to excited. Today I’m going to be sharing this fun Half Skeleton Makeup tutorial. I’ve worn this a few times for Halloween parties and it’s seriously the easiest, festive, and so inexpensive.
I put up a photo with R last year and so many of you loved it that I figured why not show you guys how I did it! I’m no makeup guru in any means so if I can do it, trust me, you can do it! Here’s the photo of my and R last year. I did his on the opposite side of mine and captioned it “My other half” so if you are looking for something for you and your partner this would also work! Now let’s jump into it!
HALF SKELETON MAKEUP TUTORIAL
MAKEUP NEEDED
BRUSHES NEEDED
STEP 1: Start with a clean face. I applied the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water before adding any makeup.
STEP 2: Taking the white cream makeup and the flat foundation brush, start applying the cream and whatever side of the face you choose. Don’t forget to also apply it on your lips. Leave the eye area clean. Good rule of thumb is to leave everything from your eyebrow to right under your eye area clear of any white makeup. Once you let the white cream makeup dry, apply more to make it opaque. I applied the white cream makeup three times.STEP 3: With the black eyeliner, make a line straight down the middle of your face. This will help keep everything together. Also going in with that black eyeliner around the eye, draw a circle. You can definitely color in the rest if you don’t want to use the black cream makeup. If you are using the black cream makeup, take the flat foundation brush and apply the black cream makeup in the eye area. I only had to apply this once. I had this crème white makeup crayon and just used it to clean the rest of the eye area.STEP 4: Starting with black eyeliner again, you will draw in the nose. The way to think of it is like drawing a triangle. Color in the “triangle” so you can see what it will look like. You can keep playing with it to make it your own. I also drew in some “cracks” along the top of the forehead. You can draw them in anywhere you like. I also lightly shaded in some black around my jaw.STEP 5: Of course, no skull is complete without the teeth. This part always seems the hardest because of the drawing but trust me, you can do it! Start with drawing in a line with the eyeliner from your cheek bone down to your mouth. Now for the teeth! The key is to start heavy (not to heavy) and get lighter as you are drawing the teeth. You can draw a little circle if that makes it easier. This will all be shaded so don’t worry it doesn’t have to be perfect.STEP 6: Here is where it all comes together! The shading! With the eyeshadow brush, you will shade downward on any spots where you drew in with black eyeliner (cracks along the hairline, the line down the face, along the jaw, teeth, etc). I also drew in a black line along the top & bottom of the teeth to connect to the cheekbone. Again, just keep shading so that it will all look blended. Once you feel like everything looks even then the look is done! STEP 7: For the other half of the face you can just do your makeup however you would normally do it. For the face, I used the Two Faced Born This Way Foundation & Concealer, NYX HD Makeup powder, Anastasia Contour kit, and MAC Blush in Coppertone. For the eyes, I of course decided a smoky eye. I used ABH shade in ‘Noir’, and blended with the ABH shade ‘Sienna’. On the lips, I chose a vampy liquid lipstick Vampira by Kat Von D.
COSTUME
The best thing about this look is that you can literally wear anything! I like to go with either all black or black and white like I’m wearing here! I chose to wear a black spaghetti strap top, a black denim skirt, a white tie, and some black booties. I also bought this black floral headpiece at a costume store. It’s definitely optional or you can even wear a black hat!
These are all things that I already had in my closet (the tie is R’s) so I spent $0 on the costume! I believe the headpiece was $10 so even then not that bad! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and it helped some of you find something easy and festive to wear for Halloween! I will be posting another costume idea soon!
